Matt + Hollie: An Indianapolis Wedding

October 5th was the most perfect fall day you could ask for, with the perfect amount of sun, the perfect temperature and the perfect amount of crisp in the air. What made it even more perfect was that it was the wedding day of two wonderful humans, Matt and Hollie.

Hollie and Matt had their first date at HopCat, which is so appropriate since they share a love for breweries, and were drawn to each other because of their experience with the AmeriCorps programs. Both Hollie and Matt are people who care and love to serve others and have spent their entire lives trying to help those who can’t help themselves. Thus began their epic love story.

To quote Matt from their wedding vows: “I rolled a crit success when I went on my first date with Hollie.” He is the extrovert to her introvert, the Luke to her Lorelai. These two work together so well it’s no wonder they wanted to get married.

I’ve had the honor of being a part of many people’s wedding days, but Hollie and Matt made me feel like I was their friend. They have an easy way about them of just being able to talk and open up about anything. Our first consult lasted over an hour and we wound up getting drinks together, that’s how comfortable they make people feel. It was truly like my friends got married this weekend.

So let’s take a look into their beautiful wedding held at the historic The Indianapolis Propylaeum, a gorgeous mansion on the north side of Indianapolis. The getting ready process was so much fun. The guys cheesed it up with me and took some amazing photos. We were in a ballroom so naturally they had to take their shoes off and slide around on the wood floor in their multi-colored socks. The girls were so kind and sweet, and Hollie looked like an angel in her wedding dress (but a comfy one, as she was wearing her Ked’s.)

Matt and Hollie did a first look. She came gliding down that beautiful stair case at the Indianapolis Propylaeum, and Matt held back tears when he saw her. (Don’t worry, Hollie cried later, too ;) )

We took pictures around the mansion and on the grounds, but the best moment by far was when Zippy, their dog, photo bombed and we took some pictures with him. He was the happiest dog you have ever met. He just wanted to see his mom and dad on their wedding day!

The wedding itself was beautiful. The officiant talked a lot about how Matt and Hollie understood how love wasn’t always about feelings, that it was about a mature decision to serve on another. Matt and Hollie truly do live their lives in a way that supports and loves other people, and it was evidenced by the amount of people who came out to support them. The best part of the wedding ceremony was when the walked back up the aisle to “Where you lead, I will follow….” from Gilmore Girls.

Like I said, Hollie and Matt love beer and breweries. They had a private toast before the wedding reception started with a beer that they had saved from the day they got engaged. They toasted to their first day as husband and wife!
