Best Engagement Photo Locations in Indianapolis

When you live in a city and surround yourself in the culture for long enough, certain things start to become standard to you. Many times, couples will approach me and ask where my favorite locations are around the city to shoot, and are sometimes surprised by my answers. I get that. Photo locations aren’t on your radar the same way that it is on mine. Today, I am sharing the best engagement photo locations in Indianapolis, and hope that they spark some inspiration for you for any upcoming photo sessions, or maybe even a jaunt in the park with a picnic once the weather warms up.

Forest Park

Forest Park is located in Noblesville. It has a really pretty carousel, some (abandoned & photo safe) train tracks, pretty benches to relax on or help set the scene, play areas, rocks, and (of course) beautiful greenery and landscaping.  

Flowingwell Park

Flowingwell Park is located in the Castleton area. This area is smaller, and mostly unknown to the masses, but it has a lot to offer for a photo session. It features a pretty trestle with greenery, as well as picturesque walking trail down by the river.

Coxhall Gardens

Coxhall Gardens is a majestic spot that is located in Carmel. The famous amphitheatre situated there gives off a traditional and fancy Roman vibe, with the pillars and archways. It also has a pretty grassy knoll area, as well as hiking trails, prairie grass, and lots of gazebos situated around the grounds.

White River State Park

White River State Park is located in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis. I love this spot because of the diversity you will get in your gallery; one direction will give you a nature-friendly session with trees, riverwalks, and greenery, while the other direction is straight up urban-chic, with the iconic skyline in the background.

Holiday Park

Holiday Park is located in Indianapolis, and features the famous ruins, as well as some grassy areas and foliage.

Zionsville

If you’re wanting a quintessential downtown Indianapolis engagement photo session, Zionsville is the place for you. Downtown Zionsville has cute little shops, ice cream and coffee shops, brick streets, brick buildings, and parks and gazebos. This area is perfect for the downtown photo session look!
