Disney World March 2021 Trip

This year has been rough on all of us. Here at the Bowen household, we decided that as soon as we were able to be vaccinated, we needed to get away and have some good, unadulterated fun. So of COURSE I booked us a trip to my happy place…. Disney World!!

In short- we had a blast. I can’t remember having more fun than we had together on this trip. It was just the two of us, and since we don’t have kids we got to do whatever our hearts desired! It was amazing. I am going to share some of my favorite photos, although narrowing it down was very hard because between my “professional” camera and my iPhone I took almost a thousand photos. I am not exaggerating!! Some of these photos are with my iPhone and some are with my nice camera, and you will probably be able to tell which is which, but what is most important is that we documented our memories.

One important policy to note that made it tricky to get lots of pictures of us together- due to covid, the cast members would not take photos of us with our own phones or cameras. They would only use the Disney Photo Pass Cameras, which is a service you pay for. Later on I will be writing a review of the Disney Photo Pass service (spoiler alert- it was not good) but in the mean time, just know that that is why there are so many photos of Dylan and I separate. Unless I could find a guest to take our photos, we had to swap on and off.

Major shoutout to Dylan for putting up with endless amounts of photos and for taking all these beautiful images of me! I feel so pretty and so blessed to be with someone who gets my incessant need to document everything.

Here is a summary of our trip!

EPCOT

We arrived to Florida, dropped off our bags and went to EPCOT for the flower and garden festival. This was easily the most relaxed day! We didn’t ride a bunch of rides- we just slowly made our way around the World Showcase, eating and drinking whatever we pleased! We stopped at Rose and Crown in the UK, La Cava in Mexico, ate Chinese food in China, drank wine in Italy, explored the massive store inside Japan and walked through all the areas of Morocco. Because it was the festival, there were booths everywhere, and we ate and ate until we couldn’t eat any more. It was so much fun. We ended the day with Spaceship Earth and my favorite ride in Epcot- Soarin’.

Oh! And I am in love with my custom ears!! If you want custom floral ears, check out Graceful Liv, she will make them for you!! Tell her I sent you ;)

Hollywood Studios

Magic Kingdom will always hold the number one spot in my heart because of nostalgia, but I’m here to tell you that Hollywood Studios has come out of nowhere and secured the number two spot. I think this was my favorite day to be honest! Even without the shows due to Covid restrictions, we had a jam packed day!!

Dylan had never been to Toy Story Land or Galaxies Edge, and neither of us had ridden Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway or Rise of the Resistance, so it was a day of firsts!

Minnie and Mickey’s was such a cute ride! I really enjoyed the trackless system and all the fun surprises! Dylan thought Slinky Dog was a fun roller coaster and he enjoyed Toy Story Mania so much he thought it was one of his favorite all time Disney rides! We skipped out on the Alien ride because it was basically just the tea cup ride with a different theme.

I will never get tired of Galaxies Edge. Seeing it for the first time through Dylan’s eyes was such a treat for me. We are huge star wars fans. We actually met at a party where we watched Empire Strikes Back, so that was the first movie we ever watched together. We got to be pilots of the Millennium Falcon, something that will always be super cool to me, and last we rode Rise of the Resistance for the first time together. My mind was BLOWN!! It was easily the most innovative ride that Disney has to offer. I won’t spoil it, but it is one of my top rides EVER!

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom day was a nice, easy day. We woke up early and got right on my favorite ride, Flight of Passage. This still remains my absolute favorite Disney ride. We actually rode it twice I liked it so much. We did the safari, Everest, and a few other rides. Then we took the train to Rafiki’s Planet watch and took an animation lesson from one of the Disney animators, which I found very cool. We went to the Nomad Lounge and after a few drinks we headed back for an early night. We would have gone swimming but it was just a little too cold for swimming, as you can tell by the fact that we were wearing sweaters in some of the pictures. It was about 70 degrees and very nice out!

Magic Kingdom

We saved the best for last. Dylan knows how much I adore Magic Kingdom, so we honestly spent a good amount of time just walking around, taking pictures, and soaking it in. I did cry when I saw the castle, I’m not gonna lie. Disney represents everything hopeful and joyful to me, so to finally be able to come back after it was shut down meant a lot to me. We rode almost every ride and got everything in except Splash Mountain and the Racetrack, which we never do. Most of the photos we took are around the castle but we enjoyed Tomorrowland, Fantasyland and Adventure land as well. I did have a first where we went over to Tom Sawyer Island. In all my years of going to Disney I didn’t’ know that was a thing!! But we had a really great time!

It was definitely strange not having fireworks, so leaving without them felt weird, but we still ended on a high note and went back to our hotel to head home the next morning. It was a really solid trip, and I am hopeful that we will be able to make it back soon!
