A Romantic Indianapolis Wedding at Historic Union Station: Ashley and Jake
Ashley and Jake’s wedding was one of those days that felt unmistakably Indianapolis. From their ceremony surrounded by family and friends to portraits among some of downtown’s most beautiful architecture and a reception inside historic Union Station, the city became such a beautiful part of their wedding story.
Ashley’s bridal look felt perfectly at home against all of that architecture. Her off-the-shoulder gown was classic and romantic, paired with a long lace-trimmed veil that made for some of my favorite photographs of the day. After the ceremony, we spent time downtown creating portraits that felt a little editorial while still leaving plenty of room for the two of them to simply enjoy being newly married.
Union Station brought an entirely different feeling to the evening. The reception was warm and colorful, with soft candlelight, gold details, and arrangements filled with pink, peach, blue and greenery. I loved the contrast between those playful touches and the grandeur of the historic space—it felt elegant without feeling overly formal.
And then Indianapolis gave us the best ending. We stepped outside later that night with the skyline behind us just as fireworks were going off in the distance. Ashley and Jake kissing on the rooftop with the city glowing behind them is the kind of completely unplanned wedding-day moment you couldn't recreate if you tried—and easily one of my favorite photographs from their day.
Ashley and Jake, it was such a joy getting to document your wedding.
