A Lake Michigan Engagement Session at Sunset: Blake and Jenna
There is something about a summer evening on Lake Michigan that will always be one of my favorite settings for engagement photos. Blake and Jenna’s session had everything I love—soft light, a little bit of movement, and plenty of space for them to simply be together.
We started tucked into the greenery before heading down to the beach as the light softened. I love getting this kind of variety during an engagement session because it gives the gallery two completely different feelings while still telling one cohesive story. The green dress and wooded setting felt romantic and playful, while their second look was perfect against all of the soft blues and neutrals along the lake.
And of course, we had to end in the water. These are easily some of my favorites from their session. The lake was so calm, the sky had just the slightest hint of pink, and Blake and Jenna were completely willing to go along with my idea of walking right in. Those are always the photographs I love most—the ones that feel beautiful and intentional, but still feel like the couple.
I can’t wait to photograph these two on their wedding day. Until then, I’ll be thinking about that perfect Lake Michigan light.
