A Modern Indianapolis Wedding: Kelly and Tyler
There’s something I love about a wedding that feels classic without feeling overly formal, and this downtown Indianapolis wedding did that so beautifully. The entire day was built around a really clean, timeless palette—black bridesmaid dresses, classic tuxedos, white florals and just enough greenery to keep everything feeling soft and romantic. It was elegant, but still felt completely relaxed and celebratory.
Their ceremony might have been my favorite part visually. They exchanged vows overlooking the Indianapolis skyline, which gave us such a beautiful contrast between the softness of the florals and the architecture of downtown. Afterward, we used the surrounding buildings and covered walkways for portraits. I always love incorporating architecture into wedding photos, and the clean lines here worked so well with the simplicity of her dress and their black-and-white wedding party.
The reception carried that same understated elegance into the evening. White linens, gold chairs, layers of greenery and florals, and candlelight completely transformed the space. Nothing felt overdone, but every detail felt intentional—which is always my favorite kind of wedding design.
Days like this are exactly why I love being an Indianapolis wedding photographer. There was such a good balance of beautiful details, architecture, genuine moments and a celebration that actually felt like a celebration. Kristen Bowen Photography photographs Indianapolis weddings with a timeless, editorial approach while leaving plenty of room for the day to unfold naturally.
